Hudson County Alliance to End Homelessness'
Youth & Education Committee's 2016 Homeless Youth Count Summary
As the Co-chair of Hudson County's Continuum of Care, also called the Hudson County Alliance to End Homelessness (HCAEH), and the chair of HCAEH's Youth & Education Committee, I designed the survey tool used during the County's first 2016 Youth Point-In-Time Count. This survey sought to gather demographic data and insight into this community’s needs. I helped to analyze the data collected from over 5,300 respondents and wrote the summary report linked below. Within this report, I identify the methodology, data limitations, demographics and service needs as identified by respondents, lessons learned from the count, and the survey used for data collection.

A Review of Published Studies
This paper examines two published studies exploring how pre-existing social vulnerability in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA) impacted recovery after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and that the differences in housing recovery trajectories after 1992’s Hurricane Andrew in Miami-Dade, Florida and 2008’s Hurricane Ike in Galveston, Texas.
This evaluation explores the internal validity and generalization of both studies and whether there is a correlation between how a community recovers after a major natural disaster and its social conditions prior to the disaster.
